The European storm Petrel (hydrobates pelagicus) is a seabird.
It is the smallest European seabird: it is only 15 cm long (size of a sparrow!). It takes its name from its ability to fly through storms. When it fishes, it flaps above the water dangling its legs. It eats fish, small squids and plancton. It has long, narrow, pointed wings, short tail, tall front and a brown plumage with white patches on the underwing and at the base of the tail.
