Cardinalis sinuatus

A distinctive songbird of arid scrublands, the Pyrrhuloxia (cardinalis sinuatus) lives in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. A thick-billed, reddish bird with a crest, it superficially resembles its close relative, the Northern Cardinal.
