[edit] Species Articles
Species articles are the articles about specific species of birds.
The article should start out with a brief introduction. This small introduction should include the bird's scientific name, which is italicized, and is a combination of its genus and species (Genus species). Also, any miscellaneous information can be included in this paragraph. Note: The introduction does not need a title, and it looks messy if it has one, another note is that all the other sections do need titles and the look messy without one.
Next in the article shall come the bird's appearance. This section should include information on the seasonal plumages. Also, since male and female birds are often different in colors, it should have what the female's plumage is like, along with the male's.
After this, a habits section should be written. This section will tell about the bird's behavior during breeding seasons, at feeders, climbing, etc.
Within the article, there will also be a feeding section. The "feeding" part of the article shall explain what the species eats. It should also tell if the bird will come to bird feeders.
Coming after the behavior section will come a nesting part. This part tells about what the nest of this bird is made out of, what shape it is. Along with nesting details, this section will also explain how many eggs are normally laid, their size, shape, and color, and how many broods the bird has per year. Lastly, the nesting section will include information on how many days the young stay in the nest after they are hatched, and how long incubation lasts.
Next there will be a distribution section, this tells you were the bird can be found, and if, and where, it migrates.
Last in the article comes the section that lists similar birds. All that is required of this section is a list of birds that are similar to the species, and a picture of them if possible.

Definition articles are articles that give a definition for specific words. Please look to the definitions page for a list of definition articles.
Although these types of articles are called definition articles, they do not only have to be a definition. If you have a source that gives you more information on a word, please, by all means, create a more detailed article and use it! This will just make Birds Wiki a more accurate encyclopedia about birds.
Note: These articles are called definition articles. A definition is the only thing that is required.
