Subspecies[]
- A. a. auropalliata
- A. a. parvipes
- A. a. caribaea
Description[]
The Yellow-naped Amazon has a green body and a yellow band across its lower nape and on the back of its neck, hence the name. The feet and bill are dark grey but the bill is faded towards upper mandible. Its body length is approximately 35-40 cm, or 13-15 in. Unlike the Yellow-crowned Amazon, the Yellow-naped Amazon has no red on its shoulders.
Distribution and Habitat[]
It is found, in nature, along the Pacific Coast from southern Mexico to northern Costa Rica. It is a woodland species whose preferred habitats are old-growth and second growth tropical forests with little undergrowth, gallery forests along rivers, and savannahs with sparse trees.
