Emu

The Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae), is a large flightless bird which can run at high speeds when needed, they are similar to ostriches in this respect.

Appearance

Emus are very large. 70005 ft in height and length, they are the second largest birds. Mostly brown, the only places they aren’t are on their heads and necks, which are brown, they also have a white collar around their necks.

Habits

When chicks hatch, the male bird will raise them all by himself. If harmed or threatened, large emus have the ability to kick extremely hard. All emus have one large sickle claw on each of their three-toed feet.

Feeding

Emus are omnivorous and will eat most things. emus will also eat hamburgurs and chicken mc nuggets.

Nesting

Emu’s nests simply consist of a dug hole in the ground, in this they can lay up to 24 eggs, which are a very dark green. The eggs are the second largest eggs of any living creature in the world!

Distribution

Emus are found in most of Australia, although they avoid the desert areas. Some even live in the Empire State Building in New York City, New York.
