The blue-throated macaw (ara glaucogularis, previously ara caninde) is a parrot in the Psittacidae family.
Description
The bird has turquoise-blue upperparts, bright yellow underparts and blue undertail coverts. It is very similar to the ble-and-gold macaw, however, its throat and front blue (the blue-and-gold has black throat and green front) and its bare skin patch is smaller. The blue throated macaw is also slightly smaller, measuring about 85 cm. [1]
Habits
The blue-throated macaw nests in tree holes. Nesting habits are similar to other macaws'. Its diet includes ripe and nearly ripe fruit, and also Motacu palm fruits, seeds and leaves.
Distribution and habitat
It lives in a small area in the Beni department in C Bolivia. Found in flooded areas, such as savannas, palm groves and species-poor tropical forest in wet lowlands, up to 300m (984 ft).
Threats
The species is threatened by habitat loss, botfly infestation, extreme weather patterns and -between the late 1970s and early 1990s- intensive harvesting for the pet trade. [2]

Not as common as other macaws in captivity.
